Default Question on BBK fuel pump Install?

I have basically completed my bbk fuel pump install but I forgot to use this little plastic clip that goes inside in between the fuel pump and the strainer. Do I really need this. My stock pump was wide open and didnt have a clip like this. I have already assembled the entire thing and locked it into place. Do I really need to take it apart again to put that little clip that Does nothing I assume. The strainer is on fine and I dont know what that clip does. Thanks for your help.

Its been a while since i changed mine but i think that clip helps keep the strainer on. If the strainer was on nice and tight you may be ok without the clip.

While the topic is up. How hard and how long does it take to change the fuel pump?

I do not remember mine having a clip....my strainer just locked onto the pump.

Fuel pump job is 2-3 hours (at least for me , not hard...it just takes some time becauseyou need to pull the whole tank out.

In addition, you will require the fuel-line release tool (very cheap).

They know....I got mine at Napa...

It will release the fuel lines and the A/C lines.....useful if you are doing a H/C/I too!

Nice, I'm changing mine to a lower psi pump (for a carb) but I'm probably going to still stick with an electric pump. Would I still have to mount it inside the tank do you think? (sorry for hi-jacking this post)

Not sure about carbs....But I know with a return-style fuel pump, it does not matter how high the volume of the pump is....if the motor does not need it, it spits it back in the tank.

I threw the 255lph on there....not that I needone that big, but in the future if I decide to throw a blower on there, I do not have to dig in the tank again...

Alright, thanks. Everyone I asked said that it had to be changed to have a lower psi pump.... oh well maybe I can just drop the tank and throw a fuel cell in there and wire it like a racecar...
