A buddy of mines dad used to destroke 302's to 28x cubes and spin the crap out of them.They would only get a few passes out of each motor before they would let go, but he owned a machine shop and would rebuild them with mostly stock parts and toss a 300 shot on them. He'd spin them up past 8 grand and get some pretty respectable time slips

technically yes you can rev it that high with deep enough pockets. its all in the set up.

hp = rpm x torque / 5252 this is why on a correctly calibrated dyno the hp and torque curve always crosses at 5252 rpms.

my stock 302, can rev to 7k, but it stopped pulling at 5300 so whats the use in over reving it?
boss 302 motors,used for trans am racing had arev limit of 9,000
but they didnt start making alot of power until after 5500, because of the cleveland style heads. and the big camshaft they used.
thats the highest 302 factory reving engine that i know of....

and i no there are 1000hp+ sbf's that run on 93... you see it in 5.0 mag. all the time...
