Default turning flywheel

yea, doin a new clutch this weekend finally... how stupid would it be to not get the flywheel turned? if i dont have to im not going to. see any parts store is a half hour away, and im doing in on sunday, and theyll be closed. its my only car so it cant be apart for more then the night that im doing it.... i dont have the money for a new flywheel at all, and sadly, just the few bucks to get it turned might be pushin it... so how biga deal is it? going from stock to spec stage 1 btw

If it's not pitted or cracked don't worry about it but it would be smart to spend the 20 bucks and have it done

A new clutch is supposed to have fresh flywheel surface so it can break in. If not you could cause glazing and uneven wear on the clutch disc.

i was in the same predicament when i did my centerforce clutch. I chose not to have it done and experienced no issuses. its just a chance and would be your decision. Just look over the flywheel carefully

right, see id like to do it, but the situation isnt allowing it, hell im getting a quadrant and cable in a week or two, not right away, again because of $$ issues. i had to borrow some from the rents to get the clutch, simply because my clutch is THAT bad... i cant go up hill in 5th, i have to drop 4th, and every gear, i have to feather...i forget what doughnuts and burn outs are, lol. all cuza some damn cops catchin me in the wrong place at the wrong time(60 in a 50, no headlights(long story), and speed exposition(wot thru 1st and 2nd, sideways round a turn)... all with in a week and a half.....

Ive never turned a flywheel when replacing a clutch.
I usually just hit the surface with a scuff pad on a die grinder.

Thats what we did in the tranny shop I used to work at.

I've done that back in the day. Broke *** student. Mmmm...Those were good times. LOL! Anyway, it's really not the end of the world. As long as the flywheel isn't gouged, or cracked anywhere...Just hit it with an air sander to knock down anything that might be stuck to it, and make sure it's clean. Then go easy on the clutch for a little while.
