Default Engine Coolant Temperature sensor (ECT) bypass?

The car is running a little rich so I was wondering if it was a bad O2 sensor of possibly the coolant temp sensor wasnt transfered to the Volvo correctly. Can someone tell me what to look for to check this?

I'm backfiring through the throttlebody under full (part throttle when cold) throttle and it's freaking me out.

do not ever bypass the ECT sensor. It is an important part of the fuel injection system.

If you have any doubts of a sensor.... replace it.

The ones that most often cause issues are the ECT, ACT, and O2 sensors

Gotcha. Well, where is this sensor located? I havent picked up a Haynes yet for it. Is it going bad something that can lead to rich conditions?

very much so. If the sensor is no good, the car will thing its still cold and will dump alot of extra fuel in

Well, the thing is running pig rich, so maybe I'll look into a replacement.

Thanks for the info!

Step on is to learn how to pull your codes.

Step 2 is to post your codes so that others can help in diagnosing and confirming the real issue.
(sometimes a sensor is not to blame...)

Let us know what codes you get,
jason
