not ur average gear question...
ok im not asking what gear is better or anything like that..
what exactly is needed to recalibrate the speedo? my buddy told me that w/ 3.55s you just need to replace the speedo gear. but he said w/ 3.73 you would need to replace two gears.. the speedo an annother in the tranny or something like that.. is he full of bs or is that true?
also for thoes of you w/ 3.55 and 3.73 what are your rpm at 70mph?

RE: not ur average gear question...
if your trans is an original 89, you only need a new gear... but you should still refer to this chart to figure out what you need

The speedo gear for 3.55s, for example, is as close as you can get for 3.73s, 3.90s, etc. If you want to be dead nuts with any of those you will need to replace the drive gear as well. I wouldn't bother though.. with 3.73s in back mine is maybe 3 mph off at times, maybe less

hah also my buddy has an sn-95 stang so that could be why

You need to pull the speedo sensor out of the tranny, and with a flashlight, look inside and see what color the DRIVE gear is. If its yellow, which it should be if you have the original trans... you need a 21 tooth driven gear on the speedo sensor
Please shut up, you have no clue wtf you are talking about
