Default Smog pump kit - Gain or lose hp?

So... Last summer my smog pumped crapped out on me in my 5-0. So instead of replacing it, I decided to be cheap and just get a shorter belt. Right now, I have the tightest belt I can get on there, and it still rubs a little bit between the water pump and tensioner. I was thinking of just removing the pump, and putting on a smog pump eliminator bracket and using a stock belt.

So, do you think that I'm losing any horsepower without my smog pump? Do you think that it's making the car run worse and screwing with the FI without the pump? I thought I read something about that. I figured i'd just ditch it and gain the horsepower, while keeping the belt from rubbing with the braket.

Your thoughts?

if you have the tightest belt you should have plenty of room between the water pump and tensioner, I know I did

I think we are all (at least the few of us in smog enforced states like Cali!?!?!?!) losing HP with the smog pump.....eliminating it will surely add some ponies...

I couldn't get a tighter one to fit. I don't remember what the length is, but it was alot smaller than stock.

There's maybe a 1/4 inch gap, but sometimes it closes unless I manually push the tensioner up. I don't think it's rubbing real bad, but I'm concerned because the last belt I did this with snapped on me while I was driving (although the belt now is smaller).

I used the alternate routing for the smog pump removal, it worked great and there is no way it rubs then.
