Uhhh, What?

The damper on the front of the crank shaft?

This MUST match the imbalance of the rest of the rotating assy.
If it doesn't, things will go BOOM!

Or did you mean something else?

A light weight dampner will allow your engine to rev quicker. As long as it is well made, it will be fine. If it is one of those cheap made crappy ones, good luck on the new rebuild. Never sacrafice money on a balancer. Buy the best your money will let you, if you don't have enough, save and buy it later. You will not regret it. I saw a guy with a cheap aluminum balancer cost himself $3500 when his BBC shook it self to death on a low 10 sec pass in Eunice, LA. Needless to say when he built his next 482cid, he went with a $400 fluidyne dampner and raced another two years without incident withthe balancer.

Cut all the excess bull crap outta the car, like back seats, all the interior, spare tire, jack. All the not needed garbage under the hood. Any thing and everthing you can think off. Throw it out.

i'm not going to that extreme taking out all the interior... it gets hot here so the a/c will stay untill it goes out.. jack and the spare is out though....

I feel ya on the heat. I live in Louisiana so I know all to well what your talking about. I'm gonna remove all that stuff outta mine when I go to set the engine in it. Not the interior, but all the useless stuff is going.
