RE: MIL questions
Seems to be some confusion here so ill just go over the entire thing.
We were toldthe check engine light and the air bag light go off but the coolant light stays on when the car is running. Ok, understood. We were later asked if the check engine light was on or off. Not sure why as we were told it was off in the first post.
When you turn the key (engine off) the check engine light, air bag light, and the coolant light will come on. They are supposed to, its normal and no need to worry.
Now, when you actually start the car (engine running), all 3 of those lights are suppposed to go off. But the coolant light stays on...ok.
The coolant light is on because the overflow is either...
1. empty
Or
2. the sensor is bad
You will not get a check engine light if the coolant is low.
Drive around a while and park. Shut off the car for a few minutes. Now start the car. if the coolant light goes off then it was must low coolant and the sensor is ok. Now, i had a pronblem with my coolant light and no matter how often i filled the overflow the light kept coming back. Eventually i replaced the water pump (temp ran hot) and to this day the coolant light has not come on since. Not sure if the pump was the real problem but like i said, no more coolant light with the new pump.
