Default I done did it now...

so im trying to set my timing and my thermostat housing is in the way so i have to turn the distributor back a tooth or 2. Well now it won't go back in correctly. It lines up with the oil pimp shaft and set's in there but it has about an inch to go. It doesnt feel like the teeth from the cam or distributor are touching at all. As far as i can tell nothing is in the way from this thing setting in right. Any thoughts? Is it possible i knocked the oil pump shaft out of alignment? thanks!
