high idle

RE: high idle
If it's cold then the idle is high. If it's warm, which I'm sure that's what you mean, then check the ECT engine coolant temperature sensor. See, a faulty one of these won't trip a code because if it's sending to the computer that it's cold, then that's what the computer gets. Get it?

justanother5.0 - i think the EVR is the EGR vacuum solenoid

ah.. ok, that actually could be the cause of your fault code you have for the egr.. if that solenoid is not working.. it will not give vacuum to the egr valve.. and it won't open... but its not gonna have any affect on your idle.

i was thinking about the ECT sensor but if that was the case would the idle still increase to about 2000 rpm when i am shifting gears (say between 2nd and 3rd gear)?

if the ecu is getting false signals... all kinds of strange things could happen..

hmmm... isn't 1200-1500 about where the car idles when its started cold..? Maybe you have a bad coolant temp sensor. ?
