Help with missing problem
OK, so I have been having a miss for a while now (Trying to not drive her much, but she is my DD). Today I checked out the spark plugs and wires. All 8 chambers are getting spark, but I can tell which one is not fireing from the condition of the plug (It was jet black and grimy all over). If you look in the following diagram it is the number 6 cylinder.
Since it is a single cylinder that isn;t fireing I am assuming it is a injector problem.
First, how hard are they to change??
Is there anything else that could be causing just this one cylinder to not fire????
How could I find out for sure if this is the problem.
I also did a compression check and they were all between 120-130, except the number one cylinder which was at 103. Not horrible for a motor with 140,000 miles since being rebuilt, but not great.

RE: Help with missing problem
I pulled plugs one at a time and then started the engine to make sure I could see the spark, and all the plugs had a spark when outside the cylinder, so (I might be wrong here) I am pretty sure that eliminates all spark issues, so it leaves me with fuel issues.

RE: Help with missing problem
to take the injectors out you have to take off the upper manifold, i just did this when i put 24lbers in there, well since that 1 spark plug was all grimy and black, did you change it, and r u sure that only 1 cylinder is misfiring or r u just guessing that. mb the rotor in the distributor is off and your getting spark in the cylinders at the wrong time

RE: Help with missing problem
Assuming that you have an injector problem would be completely incorrect. I would suggest swapping that plug with a new one and move that wire to a different cylinder. you may find that you have a cracked plug, or even a bad wire.... the fact that you have build up on the plug at all shows that you do infact get fuel into that cylinder
