airbag steering wheel on an 87.
 

can i put it on by changing out the steering column itself?? i have the new wheel, and didnt realize till now that it wont go on. now, i dont need the airbag to function or anything i just want the wheel on.

Not sure why you would want and airbag wheel on your non-airbag car but yeah the airbag column will fit in your car not sure the 87 column trim will fit it. If you have to switch to the airbag trim you MIGHT have an issue with the instrument cluster because the 90 - 93 cluster is different around the column than the 87 -89 cluster. I found that out when I put the 90 up cluster bezel on my 87 (to get rid of the useless warning light panel on the lower right hand side of the bezel) Air bag cars also have a different lower knee panel (bottom trim under the column) than the non-airbag but you should be able to use your 87 parts there.

if im not mistaken, the airbag equipped cars do not have a tilt steering column

this is true there is no tilt option for airbag foxes!

my 91 has airbags and no tilt and lemme tell you it sucks! dont waste your time w/ that steering wheel and buy another one for your 87

I agree My 87 came with out the tilt option I installed one my self and I love it. Used the Column from an 87 or 88 4 banger and the wheel from an 86 GT. just took these pictures wheel up, wheel down.

****, maybe yer right i just like the look of the 90* style way more....but no tilt= f that. by chance, i actually have the 90 and up cluster bezel...
