hey, you said the car started fine when you got to your house, are your battery terminal clamps tight? are they corroded or just plain beat up? could be your problem, also, try to follow your power and ground cables to see if theres any damge to them, its not a battery or an alternator if it started up w/ out putting jumper wires or anything on it.

yup i would tighten your battery cables, same thing happened on my bronco. the thing ticked then no power. just tighten them down and clean the posts and you should be back behind the wheel in no time.

****' son, he could be right. My sisters96 pathfinder would do that. But I thinkhe isprobly smart enough to know if they are corroded (I think). lol.
Yah man, try and check some of this stuff out 2moro and get it home so its safe, and then start maintaning it. Stuff just goes out and needs work from time to time. Ive almost got my car %100 percent road ready besides for the license, insurance, and tags.

Get a battery terminal cleaner from a store. Like walmart or something. There should be a part to scuff up the inner cable and then a part to scuff up the terminal so you get a solid connection. You should always do that to new batteries. They usually have a clear film over the terminals when you buy them new and could keep it from having a %100 connection. Try that and tell us what happens if you can.

I already replaced both battery cables and terminals, they're tight. I was thinking that it could be a bad battery because the terminals are only a few weeks old and have started to show a slight bit of corrosion. Is that the sign of a bad battery?

So I replaced the battery and had the old one tested, the old battery was fine, but my car starts now. Could it be a short killing my battery or something draining it? Any idea on what it could be? Thanks again guys.

It has got to be the alternater. if you can get a new one if old or if you have a warranty get it replaced. I have a 24months warranty for my new alternater.
