stroker

RE: stroker
I just built my 347 out of a '79 donor block. Just to make sure that I had a little extra I installed a main girdle. Get the 3/8" one, the 1/4" girdles are for girls.... I also put on a set of stud girdles on the top end. I don't know the longevity of my project.I suspect it mostly depends on how much I plan to abuse it. There is also another adder that I did not add and that is a set of valley girdles. They are a new tool to help from spliting the block down the middle. I guess yiu would need to be running strictly on the weekends for this to do much for you. But if you are just intersted in kicking butt on the street with a casual weekend interest at the local 1460 all the above should work out good.
And go for the 347. There is never an argument for less cu.in. And the cost is going to be about the same. Make sure that the piston/ring set that you get provide the land for the oil rings. The 347 stroker piston has a notch from the wrist pin in the oil ring land groove whais is solved by using this land. It wil come with your rings (I used Perfect Circle rings and Probe forged pistons.)
Check out my build on my web site listed in my signature.
Enjoy the 347!

also, .25" girdle, 3/8" girdle, doesnt matter, they both keep the main caps from walking and neither will allow your motor to hold more power. the 302 blocks split of the top down, not from the bottom up.
please dont give advise unless you know what your talking about.

RE: stroker
the 347 in a stock block is nice but if you want more after you build it which you probably will you cant do a whole lot more to it, buy yourself a dart block and be done with it, or go high comp 347 and put down 400+ and spray till 500hp then quit
