Stuttering at 3000 RPM's
I just fixed an exaust leak, got new O2's, timing is set to 14*, TPS is set at .99v at key on engine off.
WhenI floor itthe enginewill start to stutter at about 3000 rpm's, its almost like little baby backfires.
Any suggestions?
87 GT,rebuilt T-5, CAI, underdrive pulleys, MAF, smog pump bypassed, off-road H-pipe, 75 HP dry shot of NOS (never been sprayed), 3.73 gears

check your engine ground strap, and your TFI module.... when it goes bad... it can cause some funky issues

RE: Stuttering at 3000 RPM's
I had this exact same problem on my 1993 GT one year ago. I replaced and cleaned evey single simple part like spark plugs, spark plug wires,cap/rotor,fuel filter, ignition coil,TFI module, set tps, and cleaned MAF and throttle body. It stilled stumbled and backfired at 3000 RPM's. I recieved a lot of help from this forum about this problem. I finally unplugged my MAF and drove it around and it ran perfectly. Replaced my MAF with a reman and its been running great for a year now. Try unplugging your MAF sensor and drive it a couple miles. Dont forget to check other basic items like the ones I mentioned.
