Default Gas Leak

I have a 95 mustang GT. I filled my tank up last night. My car sits out side at night 2 car garage my parents want the heated garage cant blame them. It got down to about 0 I woke up goin up town back out and see a big puddle. Didnt think much of it went to the post office and got out and noticed gas leakin out by the right rear tire. Looked and it looks like it is coomin out where the filler tube goes into the tank. What could be leakin looks like a ruber gasket. Has any one ever had this, and have you replaced it before?? Let me know thanks

yea that exact thing happend to me. you can get the new seal from a ford dealer for about $25. It can my a little tricky to change though. I was able to get the filler tube out with out dropping the tank but not back in. so i recomend just putting a floor jack under the tank with a peice of ply wood and unbolting the tank straps so you can drop the tank down then the filler tube should come right out. Hope this helps u out.[sm=smiley20.gif]

i just did one about 3 months ago on '95, i had to drop the tank a little bit and also put some lube (like wheel bearing grease) on the inside of the new filler neck gasket to help the filler neck slide back in. Also get the tank as empty as you can, will help a lot if you are doing it by yourself. hope that helps
