RPM is stuck.
my rpm gauge is stuck, like resting on the bottom. i know its not stuck becuase i hit a bump yesterday and it started working fine, but then it jumped to the right again and stayed resting on the bottom.
before i go taking my consol off i wanted to see if there was anywhere else i should look, dizzy? what could cause this to happen?
i need to fix it to pass smog... and well to just have it fixed.
91 lx 5speed.

They measure it on the dyno, I'm pretty sure. Not using the tachometer. They're not really that accurate anyway.

any other places i can take a look before i tear the dash off?
also... since there is no tilt wheel, how is the process of removing it? my prev mustang had tilt wheel so it was pretty easy..

RE: RPM is stuck.
dude, get a wiring diagram for it... and just trace the wires... if it worked for a short time because of a bump, that means some connection isnt tight, really could be any of the wiring...
or... what i really suggest... go to autozone, and spend 100 bucks on an autometer tach and call it a day.... ****s gonna be more accurate then stock....
