Default Neutral safety switch problem

Hey, thanx for your time... I just tried to install a NSS on my '83 5.0 w/C4, it didnt fit so i took it off, and left the four (4) wires as they were before (cut and taped). Once I tried to fire my car over, it wouldn't hit the starter. Everything works except the starter dosn't turn at all... Can anyone tell me what the F is up ???? Again, thanx for your time.

Well are they just hangin not connected to each other. 2 are for the backup lights and 2 complete the circuit for the starter. They have to be connected.

You are correct!!! And I am a fool lol.... I just figured that out by hookin them together. I've had the car for 5 years, and it hasn't had a NSS the whole time. I didn't pay any attention to it, but the guy doing a saftey check did lol.... Anywho the two wires were what I thought going into a plug, BUT this "plug" was a clip deal that completed the circuit (its f'ed, i cant explain it).. Well the car is running so I'm glad. Thanx for your advice, it was right on the money!!!! Thats why I love this site, thanx a whole bunch for your time !
