Roll Bar?
Need some advise on roll bars for my 91 convert? I understand that it is a must when you reach 11.99 ET. However, having a convert it would be a good idea to have one? Any suggestions?

RE: Roll Bar?
id say get a 4 point bar...it goes down vertically right behind the front seats, and then at an angle into the corners of the rear seats, so you dont loose too much seat space if you have people sitting in the back...but you should get padding if you do.. and the 4 point setup isnt too expensive either...look up s&w racecars, and i think they have a kit for 200 or something like that....thats what i was looking into, it was the 4 point bar or the style bar

Hmmm, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me you need to have a roll bar in a convertible even before you hit 11.99 (I think they also lowered the time to 11.49) Seems like you always have to wear a helmet in a vert as opposed to 13.99 (or 13.49) when you need to have one in a hard top. I think that's when they sayconvertibles need a roll bar too, is at 13.99 (or 13.49).

RE: Roll Bar?
4 point is worthless, get a 6 point. a roll cage or roll bar is supposed to have 4 points on the main hoop alone. 2 all the way on the outside, and 2 diagonal ones that run through the floor to the subframes. for a roll bar in your vert, you should have 4 points on the main hoop and two points behind the rear seat for a total of 6 points.

Lucky13 is right. Safety should be your first concern. It's great to go fast, but remember, speed comes at a cost. Do what's right, and professional. Most importantly with a roll bar is to WELD it in. I've seen some really bad examples of roll bars being bolted in. Do what's right and weld it in. Before you even consider a roll bar though, you should seriously consider subframe connectors, if you haven't already. Good luck buddy, looks like a great car.
