Default smog pump/antifreeze??

i am going to be removing the smog pump but in the directions you need to drain the antifreeze... am i missing something or is there antifreeze in the smog pump lines. i thought it just recirculated the air... secondly i don't quite understand the plugging of the wholes in the back of the heads. they say to just thread the bolt back in but how is that stopping air from leaking out? they have a bolt in the first place and air gets out so why would it be any different...

while i have some intelligent people reading i gotta ask one more question. when removing the ac unit do i have to worry about any chemicals? is some radioactive crap going to drip out or do i just start ripping lines off and let the gasses just leak out and dissapate.

promise this is the last question. i searched for belt lenght and got a couple different answers. can someone maybe show me a picture of the belt routing without ac or a smog pump and the correct belt lenght to get. definately think that is something alot of people would like to know.

thanks,
adam

i dont know why you would have to drain the antifreeze, i had my smog pump ripped out in like 15 minutes, there is no coolant involved in it. as for the holes in the back of the heads, the bolts that hold the pipe on are not threaded into the holes that the air goes into the head at. you either need to find a bolt to fit the holes ((i dont recall the size, but i remember i had a hard time finding the bolts at hardware stores) or you can go to a ford dealership and get the plugs that are supposed to go in the holes, but there like 12 bucks each or something. either way, make sure you clean the holes out a little cause all that soot in there makes it hard to get the bolt started. regarding the a/c, you should get the a/c system evacuated by a shop just because its illegal and very bad for the environment, after thats done you can tear it all out. i have a/c and smog delete, but i dont remember the belt size, im also running the summit tensioner delete, ill get a belt # for you in the morning

If you do just break open your a/c system and let the refrigerant blow out, which you should not since yeah, it's bad for the environment and illegal, do not inhale it, it's heavy and will sink to the bottom of your lungs and mess you up. All the more reason to take it to a shop

thanks for the info guys. it probably isn't possible to take the the whole ac system out so it doesn't leak so i guess i will have a shop drain it for me....

another question. one of the pipes for the smog pump in the back near the header is totally broken off. you can hear exhaust coming out of it... would this make my car run better on emissions or worse? just curious cause i might try to get a sticker with it leaking if it helps me, every little bit helps.

also does anyone have some online instructions on how to use the bracket that moves the power steering pump to where the ac was. a friend of my had one laying around and gave it to me but obviously he didn't have the instructions.
