Bad Night at the Track

RE: Bad Night at the Track
I can cut a 1.6 60ft with 275-50-15 mickey thompson et-street radials
16psi pressure, 5 second 3rd gear burnout, launching at around 4000rpm
usually the first burnout needs to be long and big to get the rubber heated good, then the other burnouts only need a couple seconds
use the waterbox, thats what its for, unless you are running street tires.

RE: Bad Night at the Track
Thats what I was having problems being able to tell. I'm new to driving on sticky tires so I wasn't sure (and my girlfriend could tell, nor was she close enough for me to see or hear on video

RE: Bad Night at the Track
i first thought you were not heating them up good, but you say you can dee you are
now i'm thinking your coming out of the box too quick and dragging water w/ you
i use 255/50/16 et radials and cut 1.6x on stock motor and 4.10 gears, 15-18 psi
2nd gear burnout at about 3500-4500, and launch at 3000-3500
heres the deal.....try backing into the box and just get into where it's wet...not a puddle
get them spinning and ease up on the brake as soon as they spin, let it ease out of the box and let the r's lower a bit...not much or hold it steady, just don't raise them like it's a burnout contest
as you ease out of the box, get on the dry.....when it hooks (probably will almost stall...) get off the clutch and gas, and stage
DON"T do a dry hop , unless your totally unsure, the best launch is the first after a good burnout, the launch will pull some heat out
you should be good after that , i'm betting you drug water out w/ you , or just melted them and launched on mush 1 of the 2

RE: Bad Night at the Track
you guys cutting sub 2.0 short times... what gears are you running? i doubt their stock gears
i have the mt street radials, same tires ur talking about... i went thru the box, stoped right outa it. i also set my drivers side mirror to the tire, so i can watch and see them heat up and smoke. got them nice and hot, in 1st gear mind you(have a feeling 2nd will bog down and not spin, thats what happens on the street w. these and street tires, i think this is because of my front suspension tho), then held the burn out up on my way to the line. staged... held it at 2500, and feathered it out.. cut me a few 2.0 short times(remember, stock gears).
