RE: speedo cable
It comes out of the tranny on the drivers side. Look under the car about where the driver feet are above and you will see the thick speedo cable going into the trans. One bolt off, pull it out, take of snap ring, replace gear and snap ring, put it back in and bolt bolt up. It is literally a three minutes job once jacked up.

RE: speedo cable
3 minute job if you don't have to replace the drive gear.
the gear on the cable is the driven gear. the drive gear that it rides on is a bit of a bigger job, and most often, if you want an accurate speedo, you have to do both.

If you do have a 5-speed you need the black 20-tooth gear. I have a brand new one from the local Ford dealer, with receipt, never used if you want. They consider this a "non-returnable" item. $10 shipped. PM me.

I posted a walkthrough in the tech stickies a while back. Check it out and see what color gear you have inside, once you pull out the VSS and driven gear. Then go from there.
