Low oil light

Low oil light
I've caught my light on a few times lately and as usual the stick reads full or just a hair under full. Way over Add for sake of this topic.
Not sure if this is related at all but the seems to have started when I flushed and changed my coolant last week. Swapped back from a 160 to a 190 deg thermostat too.
What would happen if I knocked the wire from the sensor loose. Would the light be ON or OFF?
This is imtermiten. I ignore the light and it's sometimes off, sometimes on.

RE: Low oil light
Light should only be on when the oil is low obviously, not when full.My guess is ifthe wires are knocked loose the light would be on since its not reading anything. Making it think theres no oil. Get a new sensor.
If the stick reads a hair under full youre fine. But you said its way over add for sake of conversation. Which is it? Full enough or too full? If its way over add just drain some oil. Too much oil creates air bubbles thatll foam up and act like sandpaper to the bearings.
My 93 had an intermittent oil light to but i just needed oil. just added some oil and it went off.

RE: Low oil light
i had the same problem. i just changed my oil and put the 5quarts in there so i know it was fine but every once in a while when i started it the low oil would come on for about 5 miles then turn off. but it eventually went over to the air bag light too so i dunno...

RE: Low oil light
BlckStng. You are looking too deep into my reply. Basically I'm saying the oil level has nothing to do with my problem. It's between add and full and I know anywhere in between should not turn on the oil light.
My 93 consumes very little oil. Never even saw the light before. Unlike an 88 I had before. It drank 1L every 1000km. The light was on often in that car and it would take almost 2L to get it to full.
This makes me believe the actual level in my 93 is not the problem.
That's why I was asking about the wiring, connections or what do they do when they fail. Falsely leave the light on or off.
