I'm used to it being in the middle and about 3/4 the way up while revving the engine...

the oil sender could just be bad you might wanna try and aftermarket gauge just to see if the pressure is actually low

I had the same problem with my 88stang- I changed the sending unit and the guage still read only 2 lines from the bottom. Then I put an aftermarket guage in and that solved the problem--it reads between 25# and 30# at idle. If anything I would change the guage for a little piece of mind--but that's up to you. Hope that helps

Just remember that there is NOTHING wrong with using electical gauges. That's what I have and I have had zero problems with them. It also means that you don't have to run a line into your interior with pressurized oil flowing through it.

for what it's worth, my '88 5.0 with over 108,000 miles on it still puts out about 50 psi oil pressure when hot and at idle. I can't tell you where that is on the stock gauge as I disconnected it when I installed my mechanical Autometer gauge. If you are really concerned about the oil pressure, get a good Autometer electrical gauge and install it in place of the stock gauge. They make gauge mounts that will fit into the center AC vent or on the A-pillar and are easy to install.
