Default high hydrocarbons

well finally found a place to pass my stang with just 2 cats. bad news is my hydrocarbons are double what they need to be but everything else is within limits. my car is a 92 gt with e-cam,gt-40 heads, intake v1-vortech 8 psi,42lb injectors,255lph, diablo sport chip custom tuned and other stuff. anybody know how i can lower my hc's the car passed before larger fuel system and vortech.any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

run a base timing of 8*

what do you have for an ignition system? high HC count is usually from a poor ignition system. last time i smog tested i had msd wires, box and coil and my HC were 1/6 the legal limit

How is retarding timing going to reduce hydrocarbons??? Less time to burn is actaully going to produce more. You can advance timing which will increase nitrous oxides but will reduce hydrocarbons but I doubt enough. More then likely your going to have to put more cats on the car or try replace the 2 you have now.

How long did you run it before you took it in for testing? Run the dog **** out of it on the hwy or wherever...the hotter the cats are the better they work. I took mine in (E cam, ported E7's, stock H w/ 1st set of cats gutted, etc) and it passed like a 4-banger.

Also, a full tune and oil change will help a lot.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I did run it hard and even tried that guaranteed to pass e-test stuff and it did help but still not enough. I have a chip in the car and a ford tech told me to just put a stock computer in it with the stock mass air and it will pass even with the 42lb injectors and 255lph. the timing is set at 10 degrees base with out the chip. I just dont want it to detonate and blow up at the place without the chip.

i got one for ya, put a spark plug in the tail pipe, itll burn all that extra HC.......ive seen some flamethrowers done this way, you kill a cylinder, let the gas build up, then hit the exhuast plug. you could just hook up an extra plug or two for a while.......... any holes for your O2 sensor?
