if the shifter has adjustable stops, you might try adjusting those and see if it helps any. This may help, Good Luck. I had to adjust mine a time or two when I put in my B+M Ripper Shifter. Just a suggestion.

agree... i have my b&n ripper shifter stop points basicly not being used... just let it go as far as it can.... but if you have those adjusted, it will not let it engage all the time, i was playin around with mine and figured that out on my own[&:].... but i would bet your synchros are gone, mine does it in 4th gear everytime

The tranny in my '88 grinds in second gear too but I just double clutch 2nd everytime.
It just comes natural now to double shift.

its easy boby, i would go and get one for that thing, shouldnt take to long to put in.... its pretty straight forword
