Default header size?.4

hey im looking to get some bbk longtube headers, but im not sure what size i should be looking to get.. do i go with the 1-3/4" or with the 1-5/8"??...they range from 397 for the 1-5/8" to 459 for the 1-3/4", and should i go ceramic coated or chrome?

go with the 1 5/8 the 1 3/4 are too big if your pocket book will allow get the ceramic but the chrome work just as good. i paid like 400 for mine with the matching h pipe from brothers performance(chrome)

I'd suggest the 1 5/8" ceramics if you can afford them, I think the 1 3/4" will be too large for a mild engine.

yea the chrome headers are like 100 bucks less than the ceramic ones are...my plans are some afr heads, a cam and a kenne bell or a turbo in the near future, so i am trying to build up the base for that..how much better are ceramic than chrome?

Chrome vs. Ceramic coating - Chrome finish is intended to provide protection for the header. The chrome will "burn in" and some discoloration will occur when heat is applied. A chrome finish, when maintained properly will give you many years of service. Ceramic coating is a high luster silver color, and looks like highly polished aluminum. It will not discolor with the introduction of heat and is corrosion and heat resistant to 1000 degrees. At the same time it creates a thermal barrier in turn lowers the under hood temperature and adds life to your header.

1 5/8 ceramic for sure, the 1 3/4 is too big unless a stroker power adder motor

I personally would spend the extra money on ceramics. Chrome headers turn rainbow color and eventually can rust if not maintained. Ceramics should look better for longer and also help with heat as stated above.

so true!! i got the chrome ones about 5 or 6 years ago cuz i thought they looked cool. Well now my foot is in my mouth because they look like sh@t now
