Billett cam? its a hyd roller for a fox mustang. and I was using all the efi stuff from my fox as well. I think the CR will be fine with some 30lb injectors. Why do I need special cam bearings?

O ya u'll have to get special cam bearings for the billett cam and a brass distributor gear.

^^ I was wondering if I could do it that way. I did not see y not. I have all that stuff. For thoes worried about the CR I am going to run. I am not. You can do wonders with fuel injection. The cam is Mild the timing will be mild. When I figure out what heads I am going to run I will get the biggest combustion chambers they offer.

Block lifters boss height, which is what changed back in '85 when Ford intoduced the HR block to accommodate/fit the longer HR lifters ......the old 302 Boss block is a short lifters boss block (=not roller ready) reason for the linked lifters....if you install the retrofit holddown and dog bones + a regular base circle HR cam.............guess what will happen to the lifters.

Using the link bar lifter is the only way to go. I had an 83 motor and found it wasn't really worth the extra money to swap over. Hydraulic flat tappet lifters and hydraulic flat tappet cam cost the same as the lifters.
Also with that boss block I think your stuck using clevaland heads or your gonna have to have it drilled for small block ford heads.

You can do it like they do it on the late models. Drill and tap the block for the plate that holds down the lifter separators(dunno what they're called) That would be the cheap way

RE: NON roller block BOSS 302
why would u want to go wit a windsor head if the block is already drilled for cleve's. the cleves are so much better, all he needs is an intake and he has a nasty motor. tim its good to c ya, congrats on the lightning and want to hear more about the clevor.

The roller cams are billet, they're made of a harder material. I dunno maybe forged but I think billet. Put cleveland heads on the boss, otherwise it isn't a boss. You can get some badcleveland heads cheap.
