Default urgent cluster question

hey ive got a 1992 lx vert, and i am not near the car right now and i dont have my comp so i cant see any pics of it, and i needed to know what the gauge cluster looked like? i know its a 140 mph speedo, but what does the tach go to? like where is yellow zone and redline and where does it stop? also if i get a cluster with an 85 speedo can i switch that with my 140 one i already have?

my 93 gt tach starts yellow between 4500 and 5000 rpm so like 4750rpm and the red starts at like 5900rpm and goes to like 6500rpm. 6 is the highest # on the tach. I'm not sure about the speedo ? but i know the guages just plug in when u take them apart so it might just plug right in, but i'm not sure about that.

why would you want to switch from a 140 clusterto the 85 cluster, and if your car is a 92 and 85mph cluster wont work in your car

If it is an 87 - 89 cluster it will not fit in a 90 - 93 they changed how they fit around the steering column for the air-bag equiped cars.

no my friend ordered a cluster for me, and currently i have the 140 mph speedo, but the tach is shot, so he ordered an 85 mph speedo cluster which also has the tach that only goes up to 6k, and mine goes up to 7 and has the 140mph speedo, so neither will work

technically they could, but it would be alot of extra work.
you would have to remove the actual gauge assembly from the glass that is directly on it, and swap it to your glass.

the shape of the cluster is different, and the glass covering the gauges follows the shapes of the plastic housing.

the glass i speak of is different from the plastic window you can touch inside the car, normally.

underneath that plastic that you can see shimmering, the gauges themselves are "molded" into a straight glass "pod", so to speak. there are 5 sections of it.

take apart your dash, if you havn't already. you'll see what i mean.

The bottom corners of the tach and speedometer where they fit over the steering column on the 90 and up are cut to match the curve they are not "square" like the gages in your picture. I ran into this when i tried to put the 140 out of my 87 in a newer cluster for my car. The corner of my speedo prevented me from using the 90 and up cluster.
