New (old) motor
I was just given a 302HO out of an 88GT to put in my 88GT. It needs a total rebuild, but it was free, so I can't really say anything. I'm planning a 347 stroker kit, but am unsure about a couple of things. I read that I need to have the block notched for clearance... what does that mean? Also, for the 347, does it need to be bored? What cam would match the setup if I am going to swap out for larger injectors, a mild supercharger, and I want to make it primarily a strip car with limited street use? And what heads/intake manifold would give me the best performance without worrying about the price?

RE: New (old) motor
Been a while since i read into it but ill give it a try...
When they say 'notch', they are referring to the bottom of the cylinders so the rods/bolts dont beat against the block. May have to notch the sides of the block where the pan sits but im not sure if thats for a 347 or another stroker.
A 347 is just a new crank and rods. Boring is not needed but you could if you wanted to. I think youd end up with a 351?
What parts work with what i couldnt say. Somebody else can tackle that one.
