Default installing new cam HELP

Im buying a new trick flow stage 1 cam for my 94 gt. My question is do i need to replace anything else with the new cam? What exactly needs to be done do i have to take apart the whole topend of my motor or just the front?

i dont think the stage 1 cam will work with stock heads, intake and valve train, if it is all stock

Replace the lifters. You have to pull a lot of parts. Radiator, water pump, timing cover, intake, valve covers, rockers, Pushrods, lifters, Timing chain and I think that's it.

I'm pretty sure u can use the stage 1 on a stock bottom end, but I don't think stock heads will take that much lift.

stock heads will, stock springs wont...

not to mention its not gonna make any more power anyway

You'll probably get coil bind on stock heads and could have rocker clearance problems.

i read somewhere that the stock springs are only good up to .500 lift. I believe that the TFS1 is .498/.512. When i did my hci with the TFS1 cam and GT40P heads/intake,i bought a kit valve spring kit (springs,retainers,locks)from crane cams with springs good up to .565 for around $120 or so. Definately get springs that are made to handle more lift......
You will also need a new timing chain, necessary gaskets,also wouldnt be a bad idea to getnew lifters
