Default 1990 Grand Marquis 5.0 EFI motor - need input.

Okay guys.. here goes.. I need to know the difference between an HO and non-HO 5.0 EFI motor. Guy has a 1990 grand marquis with like 86k miles on it and says I can drive the car to see that its a good running motor. I know the intakes face the other side..(why?) but other than that looks exactly the same. Says if I come pull it out I can have the entire motor manifold to oil pan for $250.

So whats the difference? Would it have a forged bottom end being a 1990 motor? Where the heads just different? Should still be a roller cam motor? I don't see a 1990 302 being a non-roller.

Can someone please tell me if buying this motor as a backup block/motor thats in running condition for $250 being a good deal? I want to use it for mock-up reasons for a project with my motor but also as a back-up block/motor incase mine fudges up.

Thanks for any insight guys. I know its not an HO but is it a good deal?

Not sure about the heads on the grand marquis, I thought that they were all E7TE by 90, but the only diff internally is the cam. Non HO used a diff cam, which has a diff fire order and a HO engine. Change the cam and can make it a HO. But about getting it as a back up, do you really need it? I mean, truthfully, are you going to use it anytime soon, or is it just going to sit and collect dust and rust. You can always find one of those later on for close to the same price if your engine were to fudge up. "if you dont really need it, there isnt a deal that is a good deal"

Well honestly yeah I probably should buy it because the possibility of mine blowing up is highly possible once I throw spray to it.. it has a hyper bottom end and I wanna go with at least a 100 shot and I hear once you get close to 150 they want to scatter... also I was wanting to use that other motor as a mock-up for a single turbo kit.. (I work at a shop as a computer tech but also do fabrication after hours on my own projects with all there cool **** lol...)

To answer one of my other questions.. besides the cam being different.. since its a 1990 motor is it gonna be a forged bottom end?

Somebody on a different forum is saying that because the firing order is different i'd have to pay big bucks to have a custom cam ground. Can you not switch it over to HO fire order or throw in a B303 cam or anything?
