okay, checked the voltage, at the ECM it was 1.6-1.9 and at the sensor it was 1.9 to 2.2. Looks like my ECM is bad..called NAPA and they will replace it, got a new one on order.

Why the voltage change from the sensor to the ECM? I used the ECM ground to check my voltages on both.

How much was the ECM? Im guessing they need the numbers off the old one (like A9L and the other stuff) or do they just follow the make/model/year/transmission routine? Always wondered how they replaced them.

It was $106 and it was just a re flashed core, so the ford number isn't on there anymore.. All they ask for is the year, make, engineand tranny.

Question Joel5.0, so the voltage that I am getting off the signal wire, that is comming from the ECM and not the MAF?(just wondering)

Thank you very much for all your help!!

MAF SIG is from the MAF to the ECM.....very important input for the ECM to calculate A/F, id load, etc.

Okay, that is what I thought. So the ECM is bad since it says the volts are low and they are actually high, correct?

Also,is there a way to test the MAF since the volts are high?

second one, don't know if I was doing it right. I was testing between maf sig and maf return forohms and then maf sig and ground for ohms on the harness,MAF unplugged key on. I wans't getting any ohms...not sure of the problem, but I check all the wires running the the MAF from the computer and the all were good.
Okay, I asked about this before andyou said it was a check for the harness, unplugged from the MAF that is where the confusion is. So, should I do that test on the MAF itself?

Sorry about all the questions, but you seem to be the one with the answers.

The only change from the way you were doing it, would be to leave the IGN OFF.....can't check for resistance with power in the circuit. If that test passes, and the output at idle is too high.....MAF would need to be replaced.

No OHMs with key off maf unhooked either. Got a new computer on the way, I guess I will recheck everything after that...thanks for your time.

BTW, to recheck, I am doing it right, right? I am going MAF sig to MAF return and thenMAF sig to MAF ground (2 separate tests) on the harness, at the plug.

Again, thanks and I will leave you alone for a couple days now

Yep.....if reading is 10000 ohms or "no ohms" (=open, no short to ground present), that part of the test is OK.
