no it won't help, might even make it worse. you need to go run at another track to figure out what's going on, or go directly to a dyno.

I ran my stock ported head car with f cam performer intake and it ran 12.70's all day
12.40's is not a problem to hit but you MUST get the combo matched
sounds like the throttle body is a little to much for that combo and your right if the guy ported your heads didn't know how and just took meat out of them he could have killed the flow. It takes a lot of time and work to find the best combo thats matched just because it bigger doesn't mean it's faster
but if your going to change anything do it one thing at a time to see whats helping and how much

just my .02$

well, for starters your combo is all screwed up... the intake you are running doesnt do that cam justice. The best thing you could do right now is get a set of nice high flowing heads, like in the 180-190cc range, and put a box upper on that gt-40 lower, and have the lower ported and matched.

mid 12s are going to take some effort. now a high 12 is very possible with next to nothing in hte mod department. Take it for what its worth but almost 2 yrs ago. i piloted my 88 notch that consisted of 355s, QTPs, OR Hpipe and Flows [no tails], with stock air tubing and a K&N panel filter. car is a 5 speed. with full weight and it went 13.38@101. that was also with stock headers/manifolds. now remember this was a notch a no option notch.
i posted that cause it took driving and the lightweight of the car to run those times. if you put your car on a somewhat ofa diet it should go decent times considering the correct mods
