underdrives and waterpump

underdrives and waterpump
ok, so tomorrow I am looking at the 5.0 I may be getting for my car, so already I am thinking of possible mods, because I am crazy like that...
now I was looking into underdrive pullies, but I am concerned about overheating due to the waterpumpmoving slower etc. if I were to put an electric waterpump on inplace of the stock belt driven one, will I still get the added power of underdrives and have no problems with overheating?

RE: underdrives and waterpump
you shouldnt have any problems of overheating with udp's. I have run them for quite some time in near 100 degree days without any problem. Get the pullies, 130A alt, an a electric fan out of a mark VIII or taurus(4000+cfm), fan controller, and a 180 thermostat. I am running this set-up and works great in the very hot and humid summer months..

cool, I'll have to look into those parts. I know a fan wont be hard to find, so many wrecked taurus sedans and wagons in the boneyards near me.
now would it be better to run the wire to have the fan run constantly or hook it up to a switch and just switch it on every time I start up the car?

An adjustable fan controller will control your fan on and offbya temperature probe. I have personally seen 8-10 HP gain with udp's on a dyno, so imo they are worth the money( i paid $25 for FRPP UDP's). I am running only the UDcrank pulley and the WP pulley so i am not dealing with charging issues.
