ok...I think i've got you allbeat on the price paid for a t-top. Got mine for free out of a field! 1988 t-top in good shape after sitting in field for 5 years. Owner died and everything he had was sold at tax sale. Lawyer involved did'nt care what happened to it as long as it was removed from property quickly. Anyway, got the car home and have been tweaking it for a few weeks now. Anyone know any production numbers on these t-tops. I've heard the usual but nothing certain.

From Al Kirschenbaum's book The Official Ford Mustang 5.0, 1979 through 1993, Technical Reference & Performance Handbook (great book for everything 5.0 one of the best I have seen) He does not have production numbers for just t-tops but he does quote a Ford source as saying there where approximately 800 1988 GT t-top cars built.

It looks like you got a good buy. Nice ride for 3k & having anew engine. I used to have a dark tinted jalapena red86 GT T-top 5 speed, all power options, mint interior . It hadover 242,000 miles on the original stock motor except for exhaust. Fastest highway car I ever drove, back when I was young. I had the 140 speedo,&the car did that plus some. I sold that car 2x made near 8k between the 2 sales,& I have regreted selling that car ever since. I have an 87 GT sunroof car now. Missing the t-top, and love them most out of all the Mustang models. Kudos on the ride again!
