Default CAMSHAFT?

I have to buy a camshaft to change the firing order on my 92 mustang gt. Its a 71 model 302 rebuilt stock. Since I have to buy a cam, I was wandrening what cam should I buy when I change it to the 302 HO firing order? How big of a lift is safe? (How do you know how big of a lift you can go?) Whats the best cam I could get to wake up a stock motor some? Or should I buy a cheaper summit cam and get close to stock? Stock cam specs unknown.........

talk to jay allen about a custom grind, you can tell him your needs and he will make whatever you want. I think the web site is camshaftinnovations.com

I need to change the firing order because.................The older 302 runs off of the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order. The motor that I pulled out of the 1992 mustang runs off of the 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order. In order to get fuel to the cylinder at the right time would be to change the cam to match the firing order since its port fuel injection. If it was carb then I could just switch the plugs around but its electronic and the pcm gives the injectors a ground and this is not changeable without a pcm swap or mod. If there is another way please inform me. Just a student in college for auto.......correct me if im wrong.

For once, I'm actually going to disagree. For a mostly stock engine with no immediate plans for anything much, a custom grind is just pissing your money into a cam

No that cam you posted still has the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order. You need a windsor cam.

so you need a flat tappet cam for a 351w (which will give you your 302 HO order). stay at or below .475 if your using stock valve springs - summit has a 218/228 .471/.471 cam and lifter kit for like 70 bux that will run like the dickens with stock heads/intake and such.... but even that is borderline.

The M50 is a 351w cam....

M-6250-M50*289/302/351W (2)Hydraulic Flat Tappet
(2) Designed for firing order: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

It will work fine.
