Default Tranny Issue!!!

Yes, I know I have a lot of problems.

OK I've narrowed this problem down to the tranny and I had plans to upgrade to a TKO 600 tranny, but due to other issues, I had to tap into those funds, and will not be able to upgrade for a while, even though I have the clutch, shifter, and driveshaft to do so.

Anywho, here is the problem. When in 1rst, 2nd, and 3rd gear, it doesn't really persist, but when in 4th and at around 45 mph, it starts to become noticible, when you shift into 5th and with the stereo off you can hear it, and at around 75 mph and up in 5th it's notcible.

I tend to get a grinding noise comming from the tranny in the corresponding gears, and at 75 mph it's very noticble and will become very loud the faster you accellerate. If I hit 80 for example, the shifter starts to vibrate extemely irradically, and a prevalent grinding noise can be heard from the tranny.

My Q is, what is it exactly that may be causing this?

Here is what has been changed:

Droped in a Spec Stage 1 clutch (professionally installed)
New heavy duty U-Joints (old ones had issues done myself with my dads help)
Professional inspection of the U-Joints and they're perfectly balanced
Rear End seal fixed and inspected for wear and damage and there's none
Throw out bearing changed with clutch

No play in the yoke. Firestone inspected the rear end and bearings when I bought the car and said that they looked good. They may of over looked one, but the problem doesn't seem to come from the rear end at all, and being that it only persist in 4th and 5th gear tells me that it's something with the tranny.

Litterally like a grinding noise. It's hard to describe, best way to describe it is it's kind of like that sound you make when you run a little off the insterstate, and hit the rough section that makes that weird sound on the tires to tell you that you're running off the road.

u might have worn gears, which means they would have to be replaced. in ur case if ur planning on upgrading just leave it be for now. but it could get worse.

I will be upgrading, but exactly when remains the question. For now I'm leaving it be until I have the necesary funds availible to buy my TKO 600 and tranny install as I already have everything else for the new tranny.

it sounds to me like something is set up wrong in there, or something in there has worn, which is causing it to slip, almost like a tired auto trans will do...i had a car that did something similar due to a throwout bearing problem.

does it sound like a gear grind? if you get into it hard in 4th gear, will the tranny slip?
