Default Altenator/charging issues?

Of course, an inconsistent problem. Typically when I'm driving, my battery volts are like one line above 1/2 way. Idling it drops to right about 1/2 way. The past 2 days I've been cruising along and all of sudden the volts will drop to one line above death and the battery light comes on and it stays that way for maybe 5-10 seconds and then pops back up and all is cool. It will usually do this a few times and then stop, doesn't matter what the rpms are either. There have also been times where it hasn't given me any problems at all on a 20-30 mile trip. I checked the wiring and it seems to be fine, connection is good too. So is my altenator getting ready to take a **** or what? It's the stocker with 100k on it.

Time to replace it with a 3G 130amp alt. before it dies on you and leaves you stranded.

I am doing a 200 amp swap in a few weeks also, I don't mind rewiring, what ever the permanent fix is, makes me happy.
