I'm visualizing the exhaust still far away from the rear axle. but if it's too close you might have hot exhaust blowing on the axle and it could overheat it.

The heat from the exhaust is not going to hurt the axle in 500 years..........
I raced a car with headers that were ALWAYS open for 20+ years and never had a 'bent valve'.

I haven't heard crack either, I've heard burnt valves. No mufflers=sounds like ****. People will be looking though, because they are laughing at ur ***. I had to run mine open headers to the exhaust shop and I could barely take it for 3 miles. Plus u'll be running around with a headache all the time from the fumes. Just put exhaust on it when u can afford it.
