surging idle not the iac
my freind finally got the 306 runnning and now his idle started surging just after we got through the clutch break in period. We assumed it was the IAC but we replaced it and it still surges. also when we come to a stop after it heats up it just turns off. Any suggestions? does it have anything to do with it having a automatic computer and its now a 5-speed?

You can buy a cheap vacuum gauge at a parts store. Or you could borrow one. I'm thinking you may have a vacuum leak. Another way to check for possible leaks is to spray carb cleaner around all gaskets and vacuum lines with the car running. If theres a leak there, you'll hear it when the engine sucks in the spray and chokes on it.

my idle does the same thing, it goes up and down and up and down and then the car dies, but sometimes it money i have to drive with three feet! I got a new MAF, new injectors, new TPS, new IAC but it idle like crap. i'm thinking head gasket is blown maybe?

DIY KOEO/KOER/Cylinder Balance Self-Test + salt & pepper connectors fix + base idle reset + what samseed101 said ......don't gue$$ at the problem, find out what's causing it.
