Well if you're wanting an autocross car beefing up therear endwould be a good start. I'd first get the gears, 3.55 and 3.73 are ver nice fore both track, and daily driver cars and maybe even a better differential such as an Eaton, Aubur, or Detroit to take the add stress and wear that track racing has.
Next go onto the suspension. Lower the car using an Eibach pro kit, or equal other. Then try to find a rear sway bar to eliminate rear sway in turns. Then look into some Steeda, or other, upper and lower control arms to really boost up cornering and off the line control.
After that, move onto small power adders such as intakes, heads, and cams. If you're doing track racing you're gonna want your power to be lower in the powerband, so GT-40 set ups that are ported and polished, and or Trick Flow street heat, and Eddelbrock RPM II intakes will work best. A B-303 or better, E-303 cam will work nicely. Comp cam makes a great cam that's a little more ECU friendly than the Ford cams, and have relatively the same specs. For heads, continue to look for heads that flow well between 0-5500 RPMs, since you'll rarely go any higher doing track racing.
After you do all this, time for and S/C.
A short shifter and stage 1 cluthch should be next on your list after tires. Sorry, didn't see that in the original post. Then do the gears, etc.
