Default True or False about AOD?

So I was talken to a guy this weekend that used to have a 89 GT and he was tellen me that if you start off in 1st and then shift to drive for second and than back into 1st it will hold second gear than back into drive for 3rd gear?

I don't know if that's true, but everybody says that 1-D-1 shifting is horrible for your transmission.

It's 100% true, although the transmission doesn't like it. That's one of the reasons I like the AOD-E. With the AODE, you can manually shift through the gears without having to do the 1-D-1 shuffle. I also like the electronic OD delete and I like being able to control shift points via a tuner.

I know an aftermarket valve body would ahve solved most of those problems as well, but still...

You can still get a nice valve body with electronic OD delete. That will let you shift 1-2-3 just like an AODE. They also firm up your shifts. I think they run about $300 - $350.

Yea it works, but it's not good for the transmission, from everyone I talk to... I haven't had any problems with it though! I only do it once in a great while... 3 times a year, maybe

i did it the other night.. ended up chirping 2nd gear.. stupid bald MXV-4's light up faster than a forest fire. not even kidding. i can just mash it and errrrrrrr tire spin!

some bikers were raggin on me cus i was just cruising slow.
