Default car backfires

my car started backfiring.when i chomp on it it doesnt do it. only when i drive it normally and it only does it when i shift and deacclertion. any idea what the problem

timing is were the stock timing is soppose to be 10degrees i beleve

i thought stock timing was 12 degrees?
maybe thast just for the sn95 5.0's tho.

check it again with a timing light.
if the marks are jumping around, your timing chain is stretched out and needs replacing.

check youre exhaust for leaks, iblew a header gasket once and it started back firing a lot.

My buddy's car was doing that a few weeks ago, told me what it was but I can't remember, I'll try to find out and let you know. Everybody told him to check timing, but that wasn't it, it was something silly.
