so what is the deal with these heads?i was just reading in another forum and it said ford put them on some trucks.does anyone no specificaly what trucks they are?i have a 88 302 f150 just sittin.if i can throw those heads on my car that would be free power right there .any help greatly appreciated. -chris-

there like 40hp over stock maybe, but with some good porting could put out some good #'s

they were on late model explorers/mountaineers 97 or 98 and up, the 88 model heads wouldnt be worth your time and effort. Check Ebay or your local junkyard. I hear they are like 30hp bolt on. You may have to use diffrent headers with the gt40p heads because the spark plugs are at a diffrent angle.

you could also call the guys at the Ford racing parts tech line, the number is at the top of this section, I'm sure they would know.

actually they came on 97 1/4 to 2000 explorer and mountaineer. from the door they give you 15 hp cause of the half point of CR. also with how the ports are the valves being 185/146 actually help make good power. those heads been known to see 12s with ease and hell 11 with pocket porting with a adder. these heads with alittle bit of work are great heads. i got them and done alot of research on them. ppl will argue these heads but in the end they are actually decent

im getting ready to do my car come sping. GT40P heads, longtube headers, E303 cam, Cobra ported polished intake, then the little stuff. TB and stuff

yes your 1.7s will work just need valve covers so they clear. headers they make specific ones but the ones from FRPP will fit both also some unequals will work. some just need modifing to use them as for notching for the plug wires so they dont get melted
