would it be like siting in my car with it off and turning the steering wheel?
no, the manual rack is MUCH easier

driving a car with a bad power steering rack is harder than driving a car with a manual rack

Converted my car last year from power to manual steering.
Used the Flaming River kit.
Took about 3 hours, no special tools requeired.
Works like a charm..........

I got mine from Holcomb Motorsport in Lumberton, N.C.
I think it was about $400 for the kit. Very complete and it had good instructions too.......
I highly recommend it.............

I wouldn't get a manual rack if you have wide tires up front. They are a pain to turn if your moving slow or not at all. After putting a manual rack in my 86 I really regretted it. It wasn't worth the 5 extra hp. I will never put a manual rack in my daily driver again, thats for sure.
