Hmmm,The idiot I bought my 95 stang from broke the antenna off, doing just that (car wash) So what I had to do is very carefully (if it dosent screw off like my didn't pop that black cover up and there's two little screws under it take them out and pull it up and disconnect it........

dude, wash your car yourself, saves a lil cash and u will be more prideful of the clean look after. as for the antenna, it wont break. maybe u can relocate it elswhere on the vehicle or get the one i am getting which deletes the antenna, so my autobody guy is shaving it all and covering the hole and painting it to match the fender. the new antena is underneath, invisible.

I do wash it myself way too often cause like I said it gets dirty fast. Sometimes I'm just lazy. As for an antenna underneath the fender, the reception can't be good so I'd rather not do that.
