yeah. use used new lifters or old ones?
+1 for putting in a dry filter, less mess
if you have pressure in the bottom end your golden. if you dont its one of a few things.
1) oil pump driveshaft
2) low oil level in the pan
3) oil pickup tube issue, clogged screen or maybe the fugger fell of into your pan [&:]
4) pump wont prime, in which case you need to remove oil pan and pack pump full of vasoline - but if you have to pull it out you might as well get a new (better) pump anyways.

dont be kicking yourself cause that has nothing to do with anything. seriously.
they probably just need to be bled down, usually sitting with valve spring pressure is enough - sometimes its not. if there is pressure in the bottom i would let it idle for a good 5 minutes and see what happens

How do you know there is no pressure? What gauge are you using?

I hope that it just needs to build up pressure or something stupid, but I did run it for a little bit....I would rather miss my dyno tune appointment than blow up the ol'engine.....there always has to be some stupid little thing (or rather big thing in this case) when you work on a car[:@]

Hook up a mechanical gauge and then try it. You may have missed a ground wire or a plug someplace that is affecting how the stock gauge works. I just wounldn't call it broke till you check it again.

ya I will have to check that, but I figured I would rather be safe rather than sorry when it comes to this sort of thing. Where do you hook up a pressure gurage to?
