Roundman, what do you think of this idea?
not too much! LOL the best thing he can do is drop the tranny pan and change the fluid and filter and inspect the debris in the bottom of the pan and filter to see how much is there and what it looks like. if he's like most guys, the tranny hasn't been serviced in many many miles and this will help some. it's also not a bad idea to let it warm up a bit longer in the mornings too! especially since he says it don't do it when it's warm. he could also tweek the TV cable a touch to increase the interanl pressure in the tranny too.

ok, first of all, thank-you all very much for replying. Secondly, I must say that my transmission fluid is changed regularly. In fact, my transmission started slipping about a week after the last fluid change. I have already checked and the fluid is the correct fluid and it is at the correct level. If I were to use the lucas fluid additive do i just add a whole bottle or how much do i add?

Please read the instructions on the bottle for it's proper usage. And if it starting slipping right after the last fluid/filter change, then I would have gone straight back to the shop that did the work and tell them what was happening and ask them to check it out and tell you what was wrong with it right then. I would still get the TV cable adjustment checked to make sure the internal pressure in the tranny is up to specs first before doing anything else.

If/when you get your trans rebuilt or buy a new one...flush it every 30,000 miles...best internet advice I can give. To do a real thourough diagnosis of a transmission problem, you need to be there looking at a band/clutch application chart, doing stall tests and what not to see what's up...hooking up a pressure gauge etc...
