ID Auto Trans'
I have searched and Googled myself to death and have yet to find an authorative means of identifying the most common Ford auto trans'. I have 3 trans'
RF2TP-7A040-AA I removed this one myself so I know it is a '94 AOD-E
RF E2AP 7006-AA I removed it from an '86 w/3.8L but I do not know if it was original and I think it is a c5 (still don't know the difference between the c4 & c5)
RF E0AP-7A040-BD have no idea what it came out of but it was attahced to an EFI 5.0L..I think it is an AOD
Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding out for sure what trans' I have or come across in the future.....
TIA

RE: ID Auto Trans'
The C3 pan looks like the C6 but with a smaller offset to the pan. A C3 pan has 13 bolts, a C6 has 16. The C5 looks like the C4 externally but internally the C5 has a 'timing body' in place of the filter which looks like a second valve body. I think thier governors differed to but not sure.
As for the EFI 5.0L, it should be an AOD which were used in Lincoln Mark 7s and possibly others, i never followed what. The pan will have 'Automatic Overdrive' on the pan and in big letters 'METRIC'. Atleast mine does, its a 93 GT. Non- 5.0 like the 4 bangers had a A4LD trans but have no idea what they look like as my manual does not cover them. Ill give you some tag info anyway...
The AOD ID tag will look something like this:
PKA C38
15760 B28
E5AP FA
And the A4LD ID tag:
87GT-MA4 T
07 G 17
